University of Maryland University College (UMUC) seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach AMBA 660 Managing Global Business for the award-winning Master of Business Administration (MBA) Program in the Graduate School. The new adjunct faculty member will join one of the largest online institutions in the world, serving a global student population. UMUC is one of 11 degree-granting institutions in the University System of Maryland. Working adults, military personnel, and other students around the globe are achieving their academic goals through UMUC’s innovative educational options, including online instruction, accelerated academic programs, and classroom-based courses, taught during the daytime, evenings, and weekends. Currently, more than 34,000 students attend UMUC nationally, and an additional 35,000 students attend UMUC at on-site classes in more than 23 countries throughout the world; about 50,000 students are active duty military, veterans, and their families. In 2011, UMUC had over 234,000 online course enrollments.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
AMBA 660 Managing Global Business (6 Credits)
Teaching coursework including a global overview of various types of business organizations and environments that shape organizational decisions.
Engagement and facilitation with students with an emphasis is on the regulatory structures, legal systems, governance models, and policy making that define the internal and external functions of business at the confluence of local, state, national, and international affairs.
Topics include critical thinking, international ethics, business sustainability, social responsibility, and the impact of economics and technology.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
An earned doctorate or terminal degree in business management or a related field is required.
Relevant professional managerial experience in global corporate communities/industries and government agencies is highly required.
Prior experience in teaching and in distance education (preferably at the graduate level and with adult, part-time student established in their careers) is preferred.
