This job expired 2 months ago.The individual will assist the regional Chesapeake Bay Program (CBP) Nonpoint Source Data Manager and serve as technical staff primarily to the CBP Water Quality Goal Implementation Team (WQGIT) and its related workgroups, and to other CBP management teams as required. The technical assistance will principally be in the form of evaluating environmental modeling information and processes. This includes the management and development of databases used in CBP Watershed Modeling Suite input decks as well as in depth analysis, interpretation and dissemination of model inputs and outputs. The incumbent will collaborate with technicians and environmental managers in refining simulation processes and data use to better reflect real-world conditions and pollution control activities. The major focus of the work will be to provide guidance to decision makers, managers, researchers and citizens involved in the restoration and protection of water quality and living resources within the Chesapeake Bay watershed.
Minimum Qualifications: A BS Degree in agriculture or environmental engineering, soil science, agronomy, environmental or natural resource management, ecology, or related discipline is required.
A minimum of two (2) years professional experience in watershed modeling or analysis of agriculture and nonpoint source pollution. Experience will include the analysis, interpretation, display and QA/QC of data and the impacts of control measures on water quality and living resources.
Preferences: An advanced degree in agriculture or natural resources management, animal science, plant science, soil science, or a related discipline.
Additional Information: This is a faculty position with the Department of Environmental Science and Technology, University of Maryland at College Park, but will be assigned to the U.S. EPA Chesapeake Bay Program Office located in Annapolis, Maryland.
