Position Summary:
This is a Title V Grant Funded Position and reports to the Title V Director/Dean of Student Success. The Director of the Writing and Learning Center (WLC) will design and manage an innovative writing support program for undergraduates. The Director will evaluate and manage appropriate technology resources aimed at implementing strategies that enhance college-level writing and learning skills, leading to increased academic performance and persistence to graduation.
Essential Duties:
Implement the mission of the WLC as outlined in the Title V Grant.
Establish the strategic goals and outcomes of the WLC in collaboration with the Title V Director and academic leadership.
Implementing strategies that enhance college-level writing and learning skills, leading to increased academic performance and persistence to graduation.
Manage peer tutors
Evaluate and utilize appropriate technology for defined outcomes.
Required Education:
Experience working in a multi-cultural/bilingual higher education environment, especially with Hispanic Students.
Experience in academic writing or tutoring support services
Experience in program management
Experience with coordinating and supervising personnel
Experience with peer tutors or mentors in a higher education setting
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty, administrators and students.
Demonstrated ability to develop, plan and conduct training of peer tutors
Effective oral, written and communication skills
Able to effectively evaluate and utilize the appropriate hardware and software needed for on-line tutoring services.
