This position is directly responsible to the President at the University of Georgia and works with a wide range of faculty and administrators to assure UGA’s compliance with all equal opportunity and affirmative action matters.
The Director of the Equal Opportunity Office (EOO) has the primary responsibility for leading and managing all aspects of the equal opportunity and affirmative action programs at UGA, inclusive of compliance with federal and state laws, executive orders, and University policies and procedures. The Director will have responsibility for UGA’s Non-Discrimination and Anti-Harassment (NDAH) Policy, which includes campus education on and enforcement of the policy, including conducting investigations and rendering decisions on alleged violations by faculty, staff, and students. In addition, this position coordinates UGA’s Ombudsperson Program and oversees the University System of Georgia Applicant Clearinghouse, a centralized base of information on vacant full-time faculty and administrative positions in the University System of Georgia.
The successful candidate should have the ability to interpret and implement equal opportunity/affirmative action regulations and have a commitment to and knowledge of the specialized problems of equal opportunity and affirmative action concerns. The candidate should have significant experience in conducting NDAH investigations, conflict resolution, employment matters; human resources management. Additionally, the successful candidate should have demonstrated effectiveness in communication and interpersonal skills; and excellent written and analytical skills.
A law degree (JD) or other advanced degree with leadership and management experience in employment matters in higher education, or other state and federal agencies is required.
