Job Description: The University of Florida’s College of Medicine seeks a qualified professional to serve as a Medical Educator in the Office of Graduate Medical Education. The Medical Educator will assist with developing and improving faculty and resident education initiatives to meet the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) next accreditation system requirements. The Medical Educator reports to the Associate Dean of Graduate Medical Education/Designated Institutional Official (DIO) and works closely with the Assistant DIO to meet ACGME institutional compliance responsibilities for the quality and safety of the environment for learning and patient care. Position Responsibilities: Conduct needs assessments and assist the DIO and Program Directors to develop plans for and assessment of quality improvement in areas related to patient safety, resident supervision, and other aspects as required in the ACGME’s Clinical Learning Environment Review (CLER) Program. Provide consultation on curriculum design and assessment to the DIO and Program Directors. Analyze outcome data to make institutional and residency program improvements; assist faculty and administration in evaluating the efficacy of educational programs and outcomes. Advise and participate on GMEC and internal review committees as needed. Coordinate CLER site visits. Work with DIO on the six CLER core evaluation areas to assess current residency program and assessment of the institution and work to improve deficiencies. Work with program directors to develop assessment and reporting tools utilizing the ACMGE Milestones. Work with the DIO and Program Directors for curriculum development for common educational program needs. Participate in the GMEC Assessment Committee and work with programs to develop remediation programs.
Minimum Requirements:
Preferred Qualifications: We seek an individual with proven leadership skills and a record of academic achievement. The position requires a Doctoral Degree or a Master’s Degree preferably in education or a related field and experience in healthcare or in a higher education setting that includes experience in accreditation, curriculum development, or instructional design. The successful candidate must have knowledge of educational theory, objectives, and outcomes; teaching, research, and statistical skills experience. Experience in medical education desired, but not required. Must be proficient with data management systems and outcome assessment tools, and have the ability to exercise creativity and engage faculty and residents. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills required. The Medical Educator will be appointed as a member of the College of Medicine’s faculty at the academic rank of Lecturer with an administrative appointment of Program Director. The selected candidate’s academic department in the College of Medicine will be determined based on the candidate’s education and experience. This is a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure accruing appointment. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
