Job Description:
The new Department of Epidemiology is recruiting a tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level. The new Department of Epidemiology is situated jointly within the College of Public Health and Health Professions and the College of Medicine, demonstrating a new model of multidisciplinary research and focus. A successful candidate must have substantial expertise in Epidemiology, a strong publication record, demonstrated excellence in teaching and mentoring and have an established record of funding.
Faculty members teach in the MS and PhD in Epidemiology and the nationally-accredited Master of Public Health program and participate in student mentoring. In addition, faculty are responsible for developing research grants and funding opportunities. Our current faculty are leaders in psychiatric disease epidemiology and substance abuse, aging, infectious, environmental and chronic disease epidemiology. The Department works closely with the NIH-funded Clinical and Translational Science Institute Community Engagement Program, and is home to HealthStreet Gainesville and to two Fogarty International Center Training Grants. Additionally, research of our faculty is funded by the NCRR, NIDA, NIAAA, NHLBI, AHA, and other Institutes. The Department will move to UF’s new LEED Platinum Plus Clinical and Translational Research Building in 2013.
Minimum Requirements:
An appropriate doctoral degree in epidemiology or a relevant related discipline.
