Job Description: THE DOROTHY M. SMITH ENDOWED CHAIR IN HEALTH CARE ACCESS, QUALITY AND PATIENT SAFETY The University of Florida is seeking a dynamic leader for this unique opportunity to advance health policy. The successful candidate will be offered a senior rank faculty position with tenure in the College of Nursing, (or may hold such position at the time of application) and can be considered for a joint appointment in the College of Nursing and the College of Public Health & Health Professions, and the opportunity to lead the Florida Blue Center for Health Care Access, Patient Safety and Quality Outcomes. Individuals from academic and/or health care settings who have demonstrated ability in areas such as patient safety, evidenced-based care, health care informatics and the improvement of health care outcomes are encouraged to apply. Salary is highly competitive; and funding for research team members is negotiable. This endowed chair provides opportunities to lead collaborative research and mentor graduate students. The Colleges of Nursing is a part of the Health Science Center and prides itself on a positive work environment with a high level of faculty interaction, excellent staff support and shared governance model for faculty-administration decision-making. With more than 46,000 students, UF is one of the largest universities in the nation. UF's remarkably diverse campus in north central Florida includes a major arts and sciences component, the Institute of Food and Agricultural Science, and the Health Science Center including Shands at UF Hospital. There is an adjacent Veterans Administration Medical Center. UF has interdisciplinary centers and institutes related to brain research, aging, genetics, cancer, emerging pathogens and pain. Multiple opportunities for interdisciplinary work and collaboration, including joint appointments, exist with the institutes and centers. The Health Science Center has an NIH Clinical and Translational Research Institute.
Minimum Requirements: Qualified applicants will be eligible for the rank of associate or full professor with tenure, and should demonstrate a history of substantial extramural funding, preferably as PI or Co-PI on NIH grants. The endowed chair is a four year appointment; eligibility for reappointment in the chair position requires extramural research support at 40% or greater on average for the preceeding appointment period. Faculty positions at the University of Florida Health Science Center are generally twelve month appointments; nine month appointments can be negotiated.
Preferred Qualifications: Preferred qualification is a history of NIH funding.
