The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (ORSP) supports the University community in their pursuit of research and the management of externally sponsored programs. ORSP is the key point of contact for faculty in the area of sponsored research and other sponsored programs, as well as research conduct and compliance.
Job Summary:
This position is the university regulatory administrator responsible for managing activities to ensure institutional compliance with federal regulations regarding research. The primary area of responsibility is in regard to human subjects protection (IRB). Additional compliance areas will involve: animal care and use (IACUC), biosafety (IBC), privacy (HIPAA), data collection, collaborative relationships, etc. This includes reviewing and providing assistance in preparing protocols and sponsored agreement proposals/contracts. Responsibilities include establishing policy, procedures and establishing/conduction effective training programs that ensure compliance with all regulatory areas, sponsored program administration and internal policies.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s or PhD in a research discipline.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience in operational area. Experience in human subjects and exposure to animal care and use or other regulatory activities.
- CIP – Certified IRB Professional
- Knowledge and practical application of regulations related to animal care(IACUC), biosafety (IBC), privacy (HIPAA), and OMB A-110.
- Understanding of pre- and/or post award grant administration.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Knowledge and practical application of regulations related to protection of Human Subjects (IRB).
- 3 years experience in IRB and/or regulatory compliance administration.
- Well developed communication skill level.
- Ability to establish and conduct effective training programs related to research compliance and sponsored program administration.
- Ability to uphold ethical practices amid complicated situations.
