The Women’s College of the University of Denver (TWC) is dedicated to educating women to boldly lead in the communities where they live, work and engage. TWC offers baccalaureate degrees and certificates in a night and weekend format. Students currently range in age from 18 – 60; 37% of students identify as women of color, and a number of students are first generation U.S. citizens. Many are first in their families to attend college.
Job Summary:
The Academic Advisor is responsible for advising new and continuing students and student groups. The person in this position tracks students’ progress through their degree programs and graduation. The Advisor is also responsible for assessing individual student needs and provides appropriate services. In addition, the Academic Advisor serves as part of the enrollment, retention and persistence team to assess and improve overall program, service and enrollment needs, with special attention to retention and graduation strategies. This position reports to the Associate Director for Enrollment Management and must work cooperatively with the Associate Director to enhance plans and processes to increase retention and persistence rates to degree/certificate completion.
All academic advisors must demonstrate a commitment to inclusive excellence. Some evening and weekend availability is required.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Master’s degree or master’s degree in process – student services and higher education preferred.
-Experience with adult education and/or Women’s programs.
-NACADA membership or involvement desired.
Minimum Qualifications:
-Bachelor’s Degree with some graduate level work.
-Five years minimum experience working with students in higher education.
-Must have experience working in advising or student services.
-Must be able to work some evenings and weekends.
