Posting Description: Examples of Work Performed: *Produce a web content plan including the creation of a detailed program or handbook for development, submission and vetting of content. *Produce several professional level website designs. *Perform usability studies for a new site. This includes research study design, knowledge of qualitative and quantitative data analysis, execution of focus groups and studies using specialized software such as Morae. *Produce professional content and graphics for the web site using software such as Photoshop and Illustrator. A high level of graphics expertise and/or sensibility would be needed to produce professional level work. *Serve on a Communication Committee which considers communication with external and internal stakeholders. *Create Drupal content types and web pages. This requires knowledge of Drupal/Content Management development, site architecture and organization. Some knowledge of database organization and developing custom modules in Drupal would be advantageous. *Create web page templates using HTML and CSS. *Act as a project manager for web and content projects. Includes setting goals, breaking the project into pieces and assignments and monitoring progress. Use a project management application and be responsible for communicating to the library and users about project progress. *Act as an expert on web accessibility. This requires knowledge of federal accessibility standards and guidelines as well as current accessibility applications for testing. *Produce original graphic elements which would require Photoshop (or other similar software), artistic and design skills. Knowledge of color theory and multimedia design would be useful. *Address daily issues regarding content and appearance, bring relevant parties together for efficient discussion, and also give insightful input into design and content choices. *Coordinate (with supervisor's help) across Library departments to clarify responsibilities and negotiate priorities for web projects.
Minimum Qualifications: *HTML and CSS mastery. *One year experience working with and maintaining a Content Management System such as Drupal. *Working knowledge of media file formats, standards, and best practices for web presentation. *Bachelor's Degree in computer science, graphic design, marketing or information science. Two years of related course work from an accredited college or university combined with two years of relevant experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for the degree. *Two years of web design experience. *Experience in developing web objects such as icons. *Experience in working with digital graphics and related software.

Desired Qualifications: *Library and/or higher education working experience. *Coursework or degrees in graphic design, writing, editing, computer science, programming, library science or related subject areas. *Proficiency with PHP and MySQL *Experience in teaching or training. *Project management experience. *Experience with and knowledge of User Interface (UI) design methodology and processes such as user-centered design. *Experience with Quality Assurance and conducting usability studies. *Experience working with library software. *Experience with and knowledge of web accessibility standards and practices.
