Posting Description: This position is to teach sociology courses for undergraduate and M.A. students beginning in January 2014. Applicants should be capable of teaching courses in research methods, statistics, and/or sociological theory, as well as their own areas of interest. Exact courses will be determined by the Department Chair. Instructors receive one course release per academic year to participate in administrative and governance activities. Under a contract accounting for 100% effort, this results in a teaching load of 9 courses per academic year. Alternatively, instructors may elect to receive this course release under a contract accounting for 80% effort and teach 7 courses per academic year. Instructors are at-will employees who hold one-year, renewable contracts with full benefits. After a probationary period, multi-year contracts may be offered. Minimum Qualifications: PhD in sociology (or related field). At least 2 years of teaching experience. Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
