Posting Description: The Lockheed Martin Engineering Management Program (EMP) in the College of Engineering and Applied Science (CEAS) at the University of Colorado Boulder is seeking a motivated professional to join our fast-growing program. This position is for a full-time Scholar in Residence, with a working title of Professor of Engineering Practice, who will specialize in teaching courses in Systems Engineering and provide leadership and management to achieve growth in the Systems Engineering area. The Lockheed Martin Engineering Management Program provides advanced technical management education for working engineers preparing for early management assignments. The program offers a M.E. degree in Engineering Management and multiple graduate certificates with courses offered in a blended on campus classroom/studio setting using distance technology on a worldwide basis. The successful candidate will be capable of developing and teaching a course sequence and certificate to be offered by the EMP in Systems Engineering. The successful candidate will also have the ability to build on their industry relationships to establish educational partnerships for the Systems Engineering Certificate. Minimum Qualifications: - A terminal degree (Ph.D. or the equivalent) in a field of study related to the mission of the program and subject matter to be taught (Systems Engineering); - Substantial and meaningful experience teaching and/or consulting with working engineers, researchers, and scientists either in a higher education setting, in a consulting practice, or (preferably) both arenas.
Required Competencies/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - A documented record of successful teaching performance; and significant experience working in business and industry as a Systems Engineer or in a similar role; - Substantive management experience in business and/or industry.
Desired Qualifications: - A record of creative or scholarly activity in the subject matter associated with this position; - Experience in or working with high tech and/or service industries; - Experience in providing instruction in a distance education environment; - Experience with a graduate-level Engineering Management Program, or an MBA program; - Active involvement in the Systems Engineering community.
