Posting Description: DUTIES: - Act as the liaison between programming efforts (CSU/Cooking Matters), school administration, and parents. - Initial contact with INEP schools to determine interest in offering parent nutrition classes - Promote nutrition classes within INEP participating schools, this includes promotions at parent nights, back-to-school nights, nutrition nights, PTA meetings, school posters, flyers and other initiatives - Coordinate all aspects of nutrition classes including establishing location where classes can be taught, scheduling classes with parents and CSU/Cooking Matters educator, calling parents weekly in regard to the classes, etc. - When possible, attend first class to introduce parents to the nutrition educator - Regularly communicate with CSU/Cooking Matter coordinators - The main responsibility of this position is to recruit parents in high free and reduced schools into nutrition classes offered by CSU-Extension paraprofessional and/or Colorado Cooking Matters programs. - Identify and collaborate with a school liaison that can help with reaching parents - Track, document, submit all classes, attendees, and process information monthly - Collaborate with other INEP state-wide parent recruitment coordinators - Develop and maintain relationships with schools, which include: Principal/Assistant Principal, school food service, teachers, parents, and school liaison. - Visit schools and attend various events to recruit parents. - Regularly communicate and facilitate scheduling class series with CSU/Cooking Matter coordinators. - Work directly with the Area Coordinator to ensure that project goals and objectives are being met. - Document program activities and outreach on a weekly and in some cases daily basis. - Translate promotional activities from English to Spanish. - Assist with other INEP programming duties as needed.
Minimum Qualifications: - A Bachelor's degree or 3-years experience in community related outreach work. - Valid Colorado driver's license at time of hire and for duration of employment. - Reliable transportation and willingness to drive own vehicle for work purposes (state mileage reimbursement available). - Current personal automobile liability insurance. Conditions of Employment: - Must be willing and able to comfortably lift 40 pounds and perform minimal physical tasks. - Must be willing and able to work some evenings, and job requires some work days to start before school hours and some work days to end after school hours, staying within allotted hours per week.
Required Competencies/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: - Strong interpersonal, verbal, and communication skills on the phone and in-person. - Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) applications. - Highly organized, conscientious, hard-working, and able to work as part of a team.
Desired Qualifications: - Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred. - Experience in public school or community nutrition/health programs desirable. - Experience in adult education coordination.
