Posting Description: The Department of Psychiatry at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, The Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Children's Hospital Colorado invites applications for a psychologist position in the Intensive Services/Neuropsychiatric Special Care Program. The Neuropsychiatric Special Care (NSC) Program provides short-term intensive evaluation and stabilization for children and adolescents with an autism spectrum disorder and/or an intellectual disability ages four through seventeen years who are in crisis and may have co-morbid conditions (medical and/or psychiatric). The Section of Child and Adolescent Psychology is a vital and growing research and teaching section in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Colorado Denver. Based at the UCDenver Anschutz Medical and Research Campus, the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry benefits from affiliation with world class interdisciplinary professional education, research programs and clinical services. Job Responsibilities: The appropriate candidate must demonstrate expertise in the use of evidence-based treatment approaches for children and adolescents in crisis and with developmental disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorders. This position will work as a consultant to Intensive Services and will provide standardized assessment as well as cognitive testing, individual treatment plans, and supervision of trainees on the unit, in addition to assisting with program development and protocols for brief interventions. The psychologist will also provide initial functional behavioral assessments, ongoing development, management and facilitation of the implementation of behavioral intervention plans in the milieu setting, developmental and diagnostic assessments PRN, and takes primary responsibility for the individual therapy for some patients on the Neuropsychiatric Special Care unit. The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge of assessment, preferably with acute psychiatric disorders, experience supervising and mentoring trainees as well as teaching and developing course materials. Experience with DD, ASD, CBT, DBT protocols, and evidence based treatments for mood disorders and a variety of acute diagnoses. ADOS reliable is preferred. Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must possess a Colorado Psychologist License or be eligible for licensure within the state of Colorado. Must have significant prior experience in a psychiatric setting serving children and adolescents, have completed an APA-approved Ph.D. or Psy.D training program, including an APA-approved internship. Must obtain Medical staff privileges at Children's Hospital Colorado.
Required Competencies/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Desired Qualifications: A minimum of 1 - 2 years of experience after completion of post-doctoral fellowship in child and adolescent psychology clinical work. Demonstrated skills in the use of developmentally and diagnostically appropriate assessment tools. Experience working in a APA accredited training program.
