Posting Description: This position provides technical human resources (HR) support as a Background Check Technician and back-up receptionist. The position reports to Manager of Position Management with dotted line reporting to the Employment Services' (ES) Background Check Coordinator. Position enters background check data into HR department databases or tracking systems and PeopleSoft HRMS, and answers questions for campus departments to verify that appropriate background checks have been requested and/or completed. This position is also responsible for providing lunch coverage for the Employment Services reception desk and provides additional back-up support for the reception team as needed. Everyone agrees it's a great place to work:, we have an excellent and professional team and know how to have fun at work. *Job Responsibilities:* Background Check Technician: Position receives requests for background checks by email or occasionally via paper request form, and coordinates the submission of authorizations to the third party vendor by either entering data into the system or completing the electronic process that initiates the sending of an email to the applicant. Position tracks electronic requests for background checks via email. Position is responsible for communicating to the requesting parties via email with approval to proceed with hire. Position assists with receiving background check reports, routing them for analysis and decision making, and maintains electronic files (PDFs) of the reports. Position assists with communicating with applicants to collect information related to pre-adverse findings and provides assistance to the Background Check Coordinator in evaluating the results. Position advises applicants and hiring departments regarding background check processing steps, time-lines, and requirements. Background Check Data Maintenance: Position regularly reviews background check requests for missing information or no response and follows up with appropriate parties to resolve the issue. This involves working with several different databases and systems to research and identify disconnects and to resolve the problem. Requires attention to detail and problem analysis to identify the cause of the lack of response or processing problem. Corrects data entry errors as needed. Communicates with the requesting department, the applicant, or the background check vendor to keep the background check request process moving forward. Position keeps internal database and campus payroll system (HRMS) information updated with the final status of each background check request (completion date, type of check, and result). Regularly enters background check status data into both systems, ensuring accuracy and attention to detail. Maintains electronic filing systems of each background check request and assists with data archiving. Reconciles and cleans up files as needed. Reception Back-Up and Special Projects: Position provides back-up support to the HR and ES reception teams which includes greeting customers, answering phones, directing inquiries appropriately, processing I9s, and assisting with general front office functions. This position may also be assigned special projects as needed. *Note:* This position will work a consistent daily schedule totaling 20 hours each week. Exact schedule can be flexible between the hours of 8am - 4pm, with morning hours preferred. The hours for this position are not expected to increase. *Salary and Benefits:* Salary range of $1344 to $1411 per month.
