Posting Description: The Department of Pediatrics' Section of Nephrology has an opening for a full-time Medical Director at the Associate Professor/Professor rank to work at the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. As a full time member of the faulty of the Department of Pediatrics Section of Nephrology and sharing in all clinical, teaching, research and scholarly activities and responsibilities of the Section, this position will also specifically provide medical oversight and direction, functional leadership and accountability as the Clinical Medical Director of the Kidney Center, Children's Hospital Colorado, including ambulatory services and Dialysis Unit. This encompasses liaison activities between Children's Hospital Colorado Administration and the Medical Staff, performance measurement, and quality improvement activities. Examples of Work Performed: 1. Responsible for medical direction of the Dialysis unit in keeping with the policies, rules and regulations of Children's Hospital Colorado Hospital and its medical staff. 2. Responsible for adhering to all applicable State and Federal laws, policies, and regulations. 3. Aid in compliance with ESRD Network surveys and laboratory data collection. 4. Help in preparation for federal, state, or JCAHO inspections. 5. Collaborate with physicians and ESRD team members to promote the concepts and practice of Quality Assurance by linking improvement activities, education, and information. 6. Facilitate appropriate financial and operational efficiencies. 7. Verify appropriate medical documentation by physicians and other medical team members. 8. Assure adequate training of nurses and technicians in dialysis techniques. 9. Assure adequate monitoring of patients and the dialysis process. This includes home dialysis patients as well. 10. Participate in hospital and Medical Staff committees dealing with Dialysis issues. 11. Follow safety standards in all aspects of performance of the above functions, assures that unsafe equipment is reported/removed, and attends safety education sessions. 12. Collaborate with dialysis unit director or nurse manager to review operations, policies and procedures, staff education and training, including a disaster preparedness plan. 13. Assure home dialysis patient training materials are available for applicable patients.
Minimum Qualifications: * At least 12 months experience or fellowship training in the care of patients at an ESRD facility. * Medical degree required with board certification in pediatrics. * Board certification in Pediatric Nephrology
