Posting Description: The Auraria Library seeks a creative, flexible, and innovative individual who is able to provide leadership in developing comprehensive and sustainable assessment and evaluation programs; to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; to work independently and collegially with internal and external campus constituents; and who will contribute to a customer service oriented Library. Reporting to the Associate Director of Technical Services, this position will collaborate with a wide range of Library units to evaluate, recommend, and implement processes and procedures for measuring the effectiveness of Library-wide activities, such as user services, collections, technology, and physical and virtual spaces. Building on an existing culture of assessment, in this newly created position the Assessment Librarian will serve as an expert resource and engage with Library departments and units to analyze and report assessment data; to represent Auraria Library in campus, regional and national assessment efforts; to document the Library's value and impact; and to develop a comprehensive evaluation program that ensures continuous improvement and encourages evidence-based strategic planning and decision making. The Assessment Librarian is a member of the Auraria Library's tenure-track faculty. Significant parts of the responsibilities of this position are scholarly activity, creative work, and service in keeping with the tenure standards of the University of Colorado, Denver. The downtown campus is located in the heart of the city's commercial, cultural and recreational district. For more information about the Library and the campus, visit: http://library.auraria.edu Responsibilities *Foster and enhance a culture of assessment throughout the Library. *Collaborate with Library, institutional, and campus colleagues to create, conduct, coordinate and maintain standing and ad hoc assessment processes to establish strategic plan performance measures and benchmarks. Monitor progress toward achievement of goals and objectives, and recommend adjustments as necessary. *Evaluate, identify and execute the most effective assessment data and instruments, such as usage data, user surveys, questionnaires, and focus group interviews. *Document procedures to ensure that measurement methods are administered consistently and continuously. *Educate and train Library staff as necessary on the development and use of assessment tools and methods. *Ensure that assessment data are collected, analyzed, and accessible to Library staff and reported to outside parties, such as campus, regional, and national surveys. *Assist in the development of actionable improvement/enhancement plans that are based upon the collected and available data. *Identify ways to measure and communicate the effectiveness, contribution, and value of Library services with on and off campus constituents, such as university administrators and prospective donors. *Maintain expertise in assessment methods, techniques, and best practices through ongoing professional development and collaboration with institutional colleagues. This is a tenured/tenure-track faculty position with a inimum salary of $60,000/yr commensurate with skills, experience and rank. Minimum Qualifications: *Master's degree in Library or Information Science, or terminal degree in statistics, statistical analysis, mathematics, economics, demography, research design and methodology or related field. *Demonstrated professional experience with developing assessment/evaluation programs. *Demonstrated knowledge of quantitative and qualitative assessment methodologies. *Expertise in relevant software applications, such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, and SPSS/SAS. *Knowledge and understanding of key issues and trends that affect academic libraries or higher education. *Demonstrated written communication and presentation skills with the ability to summarize and present assessment data by translating them into meaningful information. *Ability to work well within a team environment with diverse groups of library faculty and staff. *Ability to conduct research and scholarly work and provide and be involved in professional service.
