Posting Description: Provide full-time and continuous academic advising for declared CLAS students upon entry to graduation. Specific duties to include:
Implement retention initiatives and programs: Probation and suspension program * Responsible to monitor academic standing for all CLAS students. * Work individually with all CLAS declared major students to complete required Academic Success Plan and provide academic advisement each semester/term while students are on probation and/or restricted academic probation.
Early Alert System (early intervention program) * Follow up with identified students in the process to discussed challenges and concerns with alerted courses. * Refer students to appropriate support services and faculty. * Record contacts with students using electronic early alert system.
Serve on CLAS committees, university committees and other internal assignments that include Ethics, Academic Standards, Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program & Research Day, Outstanding Senior Awards, National and College Scholarships, Education Planning, Policy and Curriculum Committee, Diversity Counsel, Tuition Appeals, Academic Success Taskforce, and serve an academic liaison to College academic departments.
Graduation * Conduct senior reviews and degree certification * Participate commencement ceremonies
Provide academic advising for special/distinguish College and University programs and students * Undergraduate Teacher Education licensure program * University Honors Program * International College program in Beijing China * BA/BS/MD Program (partnership with Anschutz Medical Campus)
Advise rapidly increasing number of On-Line students
Implement New Student Programs * Orientation/Advising 101 sessions/Transfer Group Advising Session (group advising for new students) * Remediation policies and procedures * First-Year Seminars and Learning Communities
Degree Audit and Transfer Articulations * Directly involved in on-going testing of established degree audits for all CLAS majors and CLAS degree requirements. * Supports the transfer articulation implementation
Outreach for prospective students * Admission Promise * Preview CU Denver * Pre-Collegiate Scholars Programs (College Fair, Academic Programs,Course Selection Workshop) * Denver Bound * Community College visitation days with Admissions Office
Contribute to developing student learning outcomes and assessment

Minimum Qualifications: Please address each of the following in your application materials: * Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university * Two years of professional experience providing academic advising/support to students in a post-secondary setting. (Para-professional experience cannot be substituted for professional experience)
Required Competencies/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Please address each of the following in your application materials: * Working knowledge of academic advising approaches and delivery systems * Working knowledge of academic advising technology (student information system, degree audit, Microsoft Outlook Calendar, and Microsoft Office programs) * Strong written and oral communication skills * Ability to work as a team and within a collaborative work environment * Strong organization and multiple-task skills * Ability to work successfully with individuals from diverse backgrounds and within a multicultural environment * Demonstrated excellent attention to detail. * Demonstrated passion for academic advising and successful academic advising experience with a large caseload of students from entry to graduation. * Established skills utilizing technology that support academic advising practices (Banner, PeopleSoft, DARS, ISIS, document imaging systems, etc.) * Must be a self-starter, quick learner, and highly motivated.
Desired Qualifications: Please address each of the following in your application materials: * Master's degree from an accredited college or university; * Proven experience working with enrollment management programs that included orientation, early alert systems, probation and suspension programs, transfer student initiatives, and/or other recruitment and retention activities. * Successful experience enforcing and explaining complex College and University policies. * Significant experience cultivating relationships within the College and with other student and academic affairs units on campus.
