Posting Description: Specific duties of this position include: * Work with College faculty teaching online and hybrid courses to select and appropriately implement technologies that enhance student engagement and learning. * Align e-learning priorities, activities, and initiatives with College curricular goals, learning initiatives, and program outcomes. * Identify and evaluate emerging technologies and trends in the delivery of instruction and make recommendations for implementation as appropriate. * Collaborate with College technology staff as well as with academic and technical support staff in other University departments. * Serve as a consultant to faculty and teaching assistants on educational technology issues. * Develops and delivers effective workshops and other training opportunities for faculty in support of teaching. * Contribute expertise on externally funded grants. * Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Master's degree from an accredited college or university in education, instructional design and technology, instructional media development or a related field and a minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in instructional technology.
Equivalent work experience can be substituted on a year for year basis for the Master's degree.
Required Competencies/Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: COMPETENCIES / KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: * Skills in sharing insights and knowledge about effective use of educational technologies that can positively impact engagement, learning and quality learning experiences particularly in the online environment. * Ability to effectively troubleshoot computer hardware and software issues. * Strong interpersonal and customer service skills. * Ability to work collaboratively with faculty and staff within the College of Nursing and in other departments to ensure College goals are met. * Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers and other electronic resources for communications. * Ability to establish and maintain effective and positive working relationships with associates, administrative staff, faculty, and personnel internal to UCD as external agencies or organizations. * Ability to work in a fast paced environment and stay composed and positive even in trying moments.
Desired Qualifications: PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: * Experience teaching or training using current instructional technologies. * Experience working with instructional technology in a University in support of health related instruction. * Experience supporting faculty using virtual classroom environments and web conferencing applications. * Experience in developing and delivering effective workshops and other training opportunities for faculty in support of teaching. * Significant professional knowledge and experience in supporting, training, guiding faculty in the use of educational technologies. * Experience with advanced skills in using lecture capture systems with an emphasis on the pedagogical value of recorded content.
