Interpreter Coordinator
Posting Description: Nature of Work:
This ¾ time position will provide both quality sign-to-voice and voice-to-sign interpreting in all areas for Deaf and hard of hearing students, staff, faculty and visitor's communication and meet legislative requirements for servicing this population.
Examples of Work Performed:
1. Recruit, interview, hire, assign, and match interpreters to students, faculty, staff and visitor's according to individual needs
2. Supervise and evaluate services provided by hourly sign language interpreters and sign language interns
3. Develop and maintain roster of interpreter substitutes
4. Coordinate all campus interpreting and captioning services needs
5. Provide direct interpreting services as needed
6. Obtain interpreters for all University sponsored events such as commencements, faculty meetings, and administrative events when requested or necessary
7. Represent UCCS within the state regarding interpreting issues and needs
8. Develop policies and procedures regarding interpreter accommodations and requests
9. Administer Assistive Listening Device (ALD) loan program
10. Provide information and assistance for faculty and staff working with students, as well as faculty and staff who are deaf and/or hard of hearing
11. Act as liaison with other community groups such as Colorado Wyoming Interpreter Coordinator (CWIC) Committee
12. Be on-call for issues that may arise with interpreting needs
13. Meet with Deaf and hard-of-hearing students to provide reasonable accommodation requests for classes, events and other university sponsored programs.

Required Education/Experience/Skills (Minimum Qualifications): RID or NAD Certification required, three to five years of professional/educational interpreting experience.
Desired Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and experience in post-secondary environment.
