Unit Job Summary: Director, Career Management, Europe: Based in London, develops and provides career-related support to current EMEA Executive MBA students; Full-time MBA students interested in Europe; and alumni. Works with the global Career Services team to: continually assess and respond to the evolving career needs of students; and plan and implement the regional strategy and approach for Booth's career service offering.
Plan, manage, and provide career management services via 1:1 coaching, workshops, and seminars on relevant and timely career management topics for executive MBA students and alumni in Europe.
Contribute to Booth events and initiatives related to brand building and overall corporate development, particularly on events and initiatives that directly affect Europe.
Actively participate on the global Career Services team; represent regional viewpoints in team meetings and program planning; coach students and alumni from other programs and regions as needed; and represent full-time, evening, and weekend programs in Europe as required.
Partner with various internal and external constituencies on behalf of Career Services, including student and alumni organizations, Alumni Affairs, Corporate Relations, Executive Education, the Executive MBA Program Office, Booth alumni, corporate partners, and search firms in order to effectively and creatively engage contacts to assist in career services programs and events.
Plan and manage EMEA Career Management budget.
In conjunction with the Chicago-based Career Resource Center, maintain and develop a library of resources as well as further student and alumni ability to assess, research, and engage the market.
Assist Employer Relations team in: identifying, establishing, and cultivating relationships with companies and search firms that do not have formal recruiting relationships with Booth; strengthening existing employer relationships. These relationships should yield full-time, part-time, and internship opportunities throughout Europe for Booth students and alumni, across a range of industries, functions, and job levels.
This position is expected to start spring 2014.
Unit Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
Master's degree in business, human resources or a related field strongly preferred.
Unit Experience: Experience with and knowledge of MBA and/or Executive MBA-level business careers required.
Experience in executive search, career management, recruiting, or student services fields preferred.
Experience working within academic and corporate environments, including broad exposure to senior level executives preferred.
Unit Job Function Competencies: A nuanced understanding of and appreciation for the needs and concerns of a diverse MBA student and alumni population required.
Significant knowledge of and experience using on-line resources, spreadsheet, and presentation software required.
Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated initiative, and the ability to work both independently/remotely while maintaining strong communication and connection to a central team required.
Openness to travel within the EMEA and to Booth's campuses required.
Demonstrated leadership skills required, especially reading and influencing large groups.
Organizational and project management skills required.
Demonstrated deep commitment to customer service and the ability to multitask, meet deadlines, and work successfully in a fast-paced environment required.
Excellent verbal, writing, and presentation skills required.
Ability to work effectively with students, staff, and faculty required.
