About The Unit: The University of Chicago is one of the nation's leading institutions of higher education and research. Campus and Student Life (CSL) is comprised of 20 departments that serve the University's 15,000 college, graduate, and professional school students, as well as the campus community more broadly. CSL is importantly charged with the dual task of supporting all students in the University, graduate and undergraduate, and managing multiple campus departments and services that serve the entire campus community. The Office of the Reynolds Club and Student Activities serves as the core of the co-curricular experience at the University of Chicago. ORCSA plays a formative role in the Campus and Student Life goal of creating a comprehensive and integrated network of services that support the academic mission and facilitate student learning, engagement, and success.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to understand the needs of the University of Chicago community, and work with students, faculty and staff in a wide array of situations.
Unit Job Summary: Asst. Director, Community Dev. and Operations: Reporting to the Associate Director, Community Development and Operations, is an integral part of creating comprehensive community development programs.
Has Overall responsibility of facilities for the Reynolds Club, Bartlett Hall, and schedule management of events in Stuart and Harper classrooms and on all University Quadrangles (Quads).
Includes scheduling and coordinating events taking place within these facilities, advising students on event needs, running an event review process, supervising professional, union and student staff, developing and monitoring budgets, participating in renovations and coordinating facility maintenance and custodial care.
Unit Education: Bachelor's degree required.
Master's degree preferred.
Unit Experience: Minimum of two years of relevant experience required.
Three years of experience in a progressively responsible work environment preferably in a student union or hotel setting is preferred.
Experience supervising full or part-time staff and/or supervision of union employees is preferred.
Prior experience in budgetary processes (analysis and reporting) is preferred.
