The IT Services Training Center Manager oversees both client and staff product training services for the department. The incumbent develops, implements, and administers IT Services product training programs for campus customers (UCLA departmental staff and faculty) and staff. Training is delivered via a Blended Learning model (both Web-based Training and Instructor Led Training). The position is also responsible for managing day-to-day Workgroup operations, including facilitating product training queries from IT Services customers, managers and staff, and overseeing training administration activities related to IT Services offerings.
- Detailed knowledge of training methodologies, adult learning principals, training practices and strategies, including training needs assessment, training evaluation and deployment of effective training programs and services for classroom and web-based models.
- Ability to design and develop focused training programs that articulate the goals, guiding principles and mission of IT Services, and respond to the needs and interests of staff at varying levels within the organization.
- Knowledge of authoring software for web-based/computer based training programs and demonstrated ability implementing web-based and instructor-led training initiatives
- Ability to effectively target and direct training development efforts by applying training needs analysis and training project planning methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct and facilitate training classes and presentations in various traditional and non-traditional environments for small or large audiences.
- Ability to analyze and research technical systems documentation inclusive of product descriptions, software documentation and specifications.
- Ability to assess applicable e-learning technologies to support web-based training goals
- Working knowledge of Internet service functionality.
- Ability to utilize a personal computer (PC) in conjunction with a working knowledge of PC-based software programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, MS Project and PowerPoint.
- Analytical skills to distill technical information and training data, discern trends, develop creative and non-traditional solutions to problems, and anticipate lead-times and deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively to resolve complex problems and develop solutions.
- Advanced project management skills to implement, monitor and/or direct the implementation of multiple projects and programs
- Working knowledge of policy, planning and fiscal conditions in a University environment. Preferred
- Strong skills in supervision and team building to develop and motivate a professional staff to perform effectively and efficiently.
- Ability to make decisions, either straight-forward or difficult, and initiate timely, appropriate and effective action.
- Oral and written communication skills necessary to effectively present training information clearly and concisely to individuals with varying levels of expertise.
- Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective professional relationships, and to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with senior administrators, customers, peers, subordinates and vendors.
- Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a complex environment under the pressure of deadlines and rapidly changing priorities.
- More than two years experience developing training programs and facilitating training courses.
