The University of California, Irvine’s Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders has an opportunity for a Project Scientist position. The scope of the research involves using stem cell based therapies in mouse models for analysis of potential treatment of Huntington’s disease.
Requirements: Ph.D. in Biology with a focus on experience in cell culture, molecular biology, biochemistry, mouse physiology, genetics and animal husbandry as well as skills in culturing and differentiation of human stem cells. Applicant must have a strong publication record in top ranked journals, advanced writing skills, and many years experience with grant writing, including R01 grants. Job requires strong organizational skills as well as mentoring skills for graduate and undergraduate research students.
Essential skills include extensive hands-on experience in all aspects of animal related research, with an emphasis on behavioral neuroscience techniques and quantitative assessment of cognitive and motor endpoints. The candidate should have significant knowledge of treatment regimes and efficacy in mouse models as well as the ability to assess potency in vivo with a focus on safety and tolerability of treatments intended for clinical development.
The position will be appointed at the level that is commensurate with the education and experience of the individual candidate.
