This job expired 2 months ago.The Hepatobiliary/Pancreas Nurse Practitioner position will be an advanced practice nurse that provides independent nursing and collaborative medical management to Hepatobiliary/Pancreas Surgery at the UCI Medical Center. The Nurse Practitioner provides routine care and management of the patient with acute and chronic complaints. Incumbent is accountable for the management and coordination of all patient care for the Department of Surgery, Hepatobilary Pancreas Surgery service.
The Nurse Practitioner II will act as first assistant in surgery under the supervision of attending physicians and will perform complex Hepatobiliary/Pancreas procedures and other medical procedures. The incumbent will assist surgeons in patient care before, after and during surgery. The Nurse Practitioner will be managed by the Division Chief of the Hepatobiliary Surgery Division.
This position will provide secondary, and in some cases tertiary care within the scope of practice, licensure and organizational policies. The Nurse Practitioners role is diverse, involving close relationships with the surgeon and patient. This position will provide surgical services; include scrubbing, draping, retracting, exposing, clamping, ligating and suturing. This position will provided clinical services, including taking histories, conducting physical examinations, ordering, performing and interpreting appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests and therapies and furnishing drugs and devices in a cost efficient manner for specific conditions. Emphasis is placed on health promotion, disease prevention and patient education, combining the qualities of both nursing and medicine. The Nurse Practitioner acts as a health care resource and role model to staff by maintaining a high degree of ethics and integrity.
Duties include triaging phone calls, reviewing critical labs, follow-up of biopsy results with patient and medical staff, conducting in-depth interviews with patients and/or family, constructing comprehensive medical histories, performing initial and periodic physical examinations, and exploring patients interpretation of health needs. Incumbent will identify and treat patients diseases and manage treatment of hospitalized patients.
Salary: Annual $97,400
Work Schedule: 8-5, M-F
