Position Summary: The successful applicant will teach undergraduate and graduate painting. Other responsibilities include: participation in departmental duties such as student advising and mentorship; program assessment and management; service to departmental, college and university committees; and participation in community outreach and program recruitment.
Minimum Preferred Qualifications: The Department of Art and Art History at The University of Alabama invites applications for a full-time, nine-month position for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Art in Painting, beginning August 16, 2014. We invite applications from candidates who have a strong commitment to teaching excellence, creative activity and scholarship, and university and community service. Applicants should present an active exhibition record that demonstrates a high level of professional engagement and commitment to a contemporary painting practice. Must be well versed in the practice and theory of traditional and contemporary methodologies in Painting. Required qualifications - Master of Fine Arts degree in studio art - Minimum two years of university or college- level teaching experience beyond graduate student teaching - Evidence of active exhibition record and scholarship. Demonstrated excellence and recognition of dynamic ongoing creative research that can build towards tenure. - Evidence of success in college/university teaching in the media area of Painting.
