The Office of Corporate & Foundation Relations works with external associations, corporations, and foundations to identify their interests and needs with respect to interacting with Tufts University, and facilitates dialogues and discussions with administration, faculty and staff in all schools to maximize a mutually beneficial partnership in which both organizations realize their objectives. The Office is the primary office on campus responsible for philanthropic and other relationships with outside organizations that yield assets to the University to further the mission of education, research and training.
Responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of corporate and foundation prospects for support to educational and research programs, with a primary focus on support to the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Responsible for maintaining a portfilio of 75-100 relationships with organizations with the anticipation of raising significant resources for University oral health/life science initiatives. The portfolio is expected to be weighted equally toward corporate and foundation prospects. The Associate Director will identify appropriate corporate and foundation prospects for priority and strategic projects and programs and work effectively with faculty and administrators in the development and submission of proposals; and will maintain close linkages with corporate and foundation donors to continue and increase giving. The Associate Director in this position will work as a key member of a multi-faceted team focused on the University's campaign and academic strategic priorities. As a key member of the CFR team, continual communication with fellow team members and academic personnel is paramount to the success of the organization. A strong working relationship with the Senior Director of Development and Alumni Relations for the School of Dental Medicine is necessary for this role as well as with the larger Dental Development Team. The Associate Director will be expected to meet frequently with the Senior Director, participate in regular staff and prospect management meetings as well as meetings with the Dean and attend development events. Establishment of credentials, trust, and a high level of engagement with faculty is also key to the success of this role. The sucessful candidate will bring an entreprenurial attitude to the role, along with creativity and initiative in establishing and maintaining corporate and foundation relations for the School of Dental Medicine. This position will share administrative support from the Boston campus CFR administrative assistant.
- Minimum of five (5) years of fundraising, technology transfer, or related sales or marketing
- Bachelor's degree
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills; ability to interact effectively with faculty and academic administrators; knowledge of institutional advancement and corporate and foundation relationship management, as well as techniques of corporate and foundation donor cultivation and solicitation, proposal writing; ability to independently manage proposal initiatives; develop solicitation strategies; write effective proposals; communicate effectively and establish cooperative working relationships with Tufts and external constituencies.Must be able to work independently for school priorities and team with School's development and alumni relations personnel to share leads and resources. Working with CFR colleagues, must be able to initiate and participate in cross-university initiatives. Must be able to travel to Domestic and Local destinations as required, including Tufts inter-campus travel.
Graduate degree in a life science or other health-related discipline and prior corporate experience highly desirable.Expertise in computer based data and tracking systems for donor giving and prospect management is a plus.
