Medical Assistant (part-time, on-call)

The Medical Assistant assists physicians and nurses in the preparation and delivery of health care to clinic patients by performing a variety of medically related tasks to ensure smooth patient flow for TUP Operations. Performs clinical tasks such as taking patients vital signs, weight, and documenting reason for visit in medical chart. May give injections, perform skin testing, urine tests, and draw blood. Ensures that exam rooms are prepared for patient visits. Schedule laboratory tests and complete necessary forms for physician referrals and hospitalizations. Package specimens for pick up or delivery of specimens. Deliver specimens and requisitions to lab and pharmacy. Receive and store all medical and surgical supplies. May clean instruments and operate sterilizer. Delivers patient care individualized relative to age/developmental, psycho-socio-cultural patient treatment needs. Call and retrieve, as directed, necessary lab reports, ultrasound, x-rays and mammogram reports. Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Required Education and Experience:
Medical Assistant Certification required with at least two years experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities:
*Must be organized, detail oriented and able to complete tasks in a timely manner.
*Excellent customer service orientation and the ability to interact with professionalism and tact under stress.
*Must be able to work a flexible schedule and travel to off site locations.
Preferred:
*Experience with EPIC and IDX.
