The Associate Grant and Contract Specialist, reporting to the Director of the respective Sponsored Programs offices of Temple Research Administration, will assist with providing research administration services, for assigned schools and colleges, to include pre-award activities; processing of research grants, contracts and agreements; research compliance activities; and training of faculty and staff in aspects of grantsmanship. The incumbent serves in an essential support role in activities involving the Office of Research Administration and Temple research faculty and research administrators in the assigned schools and colleges.
The Associate Grant and Contract Specialist will provide direct assistance and support to Grant and Contract Specialist positions in the processing and monitoring of applications for external grants, contracts, subcontracts and sub-awards. Responsibilities include the following: assisting in the preparation and submission of proposals for external funding, and reviewing contents for conformity with University and sponsor policies, procedures, and guidelines; assisting in validating proposals for completeness upon submission; facilitating acquisition and management of extramural support for faculty and other researchers; reviewing proposal budgets for compliance with school, university and sponsor regulations; accepting awards for research, training, service and other projects and reviewing award terms and conditions; assisting in tracking outstanding contracts, subcontracts, and other documents; assisting with the development of responses/reports to inquiries from executive level University administration concerning specific grant and contract information; providing support to committees with representatives of other research-related departments and assisting in the development of joint pre-award activity trainings available to the University community; assisting with training of faculty research investigators and associated research and administrative personnel on electronic research administration systems, and on new and updated regulations and guidelines. The Associate Grants and Contracts Specialist also provides support to liaison activities between faculty, staff, and outside funders on grant and contract related matters, including working with faculty and staff on application preparation, regulatory compliance, University pre- and post-award requirements and processes. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for ongoing data entry, reviewing and updating functions necessary to maintain accurate and timely records in the electronic research administration system ([Click Here to Email Your Resume]). Job Requirements
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree and at least three years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Required Skills and Abilities:
*Demonstrated computer skills, and proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software programs.
*Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
*Demonstrated organizational skills, along with the ability to complete tasks in an accurate and timely manner under numerous, often conflicting, priorities and deadlines.
*Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
*Strong problem solving skills.
*Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse population of researchers, administrators, other staff, and students.
