The Assistant Director, reporting to the Associate Director of Financial Aid, is responsible for the supervision of a team of Financial Counselors performing the delivery and counseling of financial aid information and services. (also includes assisting staff with issues regarding employee/labor relations issues). The incumbent is responsible for updating and training staff with current federal and state financial aid regulations. Perform federal needs analysis to determine student aid awards employing professional judgment to resolve more complex student financial issues. The Assistant Director also attends workshops and college nights as means of supporting enrollment management functions of Temple University. Perform other duties as assigned.

Must be available to work extended hours and weekends during peak processing periods.

Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree with four years experience in financial aid, preferably in a University environment with undergraduate, graduate and professional students, including experience performing federal verification, Federal Direct Loan and Pell reconciliation, and familiarity with federal Quality Assurance Program. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Must have excellent communication and customer service skills.
*Demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize diverse tasks; and function professionally in a fast paced environment.
*Ability to work independently.
*Ability to interact with people of all constituent groups.
*Working knowledge of Microsoft applications.

Preferred:
*Experience with SGHE/Banner software and SQL strongly preferred.
