POSITION SUMMARY: SUNY Maritime College seeks to hire a computer help desk technician who is responsible for providing technical support to users of the college campus. The Help Desk Technician is part of a robust and high paced desktop support team dedicated to providing high quality customer service. He/she will maintain and utilize help desk software to coordinate the creation and dispatch of work orders and tickets. They will provide technical assistance and support (phone, in-person, remote & written) in a timely manner for all hardware and software problems.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities Include:

• Answer help desk phone line and log trouble tickets.
• Assist department in implementing college wide IT Security Program.
• Perform regular maintenance of college classrooms and computer labs including TS Empire State VI.
• Setup and troubleshoot computer, phone/fax, printers & AV equipment for Faculty/Staff.
• Troubleshoot and resolve classroom audio/visual issues.
• Follow and maintain existing IT policies and procedures.
• Increase department customer service via oral and written communication.
• Maintain equipment inventory and related documentation.
• Support and troubleshoot college cable TV network and devices.
• Purchase computer related supplies, software and equipment.
• Assist IT department and work on IT projects as needed.

Requirements:
• Four-Year College Degree in a computer related field or closely related discipline.
• 2-3 years of experience in a help desk or desktop support operation.
• Experience and knowledge of audio/visual equipment.
• Ability to effectively communicate technical solutions to end users.
• Demonstrated ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to handle occasional weekend and evening assignments as needed.

Additional Information:
Interview traveling and relocation expenses are not reimbursed. Salary range is $35,000-$45,000 commensurate with experience. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously.
