SUNY Maritime College located on a 55-acre scenic waterfront property on the outskirts of New York City on the Throggs Neck peninsula where the East River meets Long Island Sound. The campus blends the best of two worlds: a comfortable college-town feel with the greatest city in the world. An impressive view of the sound extends toward the North Atlantic, yet only a few miles away are Yankee Stadium and midtown Manhattan. SUNY Maritime offers an array of employment opportunities stemming from entry level to professional positions which encourage growth and development among its employees.

The Engineering Department at Maritime College, State University of New York, is seeking to fill two electrical engineering faculty positions, subject to funding approval. These positions would be tenure track, academic year appointments at the rank of Assistant Professor, although one position could be filled at the rank of Associate Professor. The Maritime College electrical engineering degree program is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, and is focused on electric power engineering. Successful candidates must demonstrate the ability to teach electrical engineering service courses for non-majors and specialized courses for electrical engineering majors. Faculty are also expected to conduct applied research in electrical engineering.

A Ph.D. in electrical engineering or a closely allied field together with previous academic or industrial experience are required for Associate Professor rank, and a reasonable expectation of timely completion of a Ph.D. is required for Assistant Professor rank. Highly qualified individuals not holding a Ph.D. could be considered for a full-time, non-tenure track Lecturer position. Practical industrial or research experience in power systems, electrical machinery, or control systems is highly desirable, especially marine industrial experience. Holding a Professional Engineering license or a USCG license as a marine engineering officer is also very desirable.
