The Specialist I will report to the Computer Center’s Associate Director for Application Development and will primarily support the analysis, development, integration and operation of the College’s software application systems comprised of: SunGard’s Banner ERP; Luminis Faculty/Student Portal; College developed portal applications; and a variety of third party packaged software and interfaces. Specific responsibilities are as follows:

· Communicate and coordinate with consultants, College team members and representatives from consortiums and other institutions of higher education.

· Collaborate with functional departments to gather business requirements and develop system design and programming specifications.

Use industry standards and creativity to provide analysis of scope, feasibility and methodology for application development and problem resolution, including the documentation of findings and alternative approaches.
· Independently execute and document all relevant phases of the System Development Life Cycle including but not limited to: analysis; design; programming; testing; implementation; and post implementation support.

· Help facilitate the progression and completion of tasks assigned to other staff members.

· Provide quality control through the evaluation, insight and support of IT applications and services.

· Provide periodic status to College Administration with regard to assigned projects, tasks and other designated responsibilities.

· Develop programs utilizing institutionally accepted programming languages, techniques, standards and methodologies.

· Provide mentoring, training and support to other team members in relevant technologies.

· Assist in the research, acquisition and implementation of new products and services that will enhance the technical productivity of the department.

A Master’s degree with at least 20 undergraduate or graduate credits in computer science or a related major. Alternately, a Bachelor’s degree with comparable credit requirements and 2 years of full-time technical work experience. Work experience must pertain to the support of an enterprise-wide service that includes: system administration; development; end-user collaboration; and responsibility for independently analyzing issues and researching and implementing solutions.

Applicants must also be proficient in Java and SQL procedural programming and reporting techniques and also demonstrate a significant knowledge of Oracle or similar relational databases, J2EE, UNIX/LINUX, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, XML and have an additional 4 years of full-time professional experience, preferably in an academic computer center. Preference will be given to applicants with SunGard’s Banner ERP, Luminis Portal, Banner Enterprise Identity System (BEIS), Oracle’s Identity Manager, Groovy, Spring Framework and Single Sign-on methodologies.
