About the Alexander Crombie Humphreys Chair in Economics of Engineering
The Chair, endowed in 1928, is named for Stevens' past president Alexander Crombie Humphreys, a graduate of Stevens' Class of 1881, who served from 1902 to 1927. Humphreys is credited as a founder of the field of Engineering Economics.
About the School of Systems & Engineering
The School of Systems and Enterprises provides interdisciplinary education and research rooted in systems thinking. We focus on applying a “systems approach” to better understand the nature of problems and opportunities, and to conceive novel concepts and solutions that achieve breakthrough results across a wide range of domains. It is our vision to solve critical national and global challenges of the 21st century using systems approaches.
Attributes & Qualifications
* Exceptional research leadership and achievement in the Economics of Engineering and a history of successful collaboration;
* Champion the use of value in value-based systems thinking;
* Dynamic individual with demonstrated leadership skills who has a clear vision for using the Economics of Engineering to help address the critical systems challenges that we face in the 21st century;
* Key areas of interest could include the role of economics and valuation in large scale evolving complex systems and enterprises, long-term systemic sustainability, service intensive systems and enterprises, and other areas where engineering economics plays a major role.
* Appointment will be at the Full Professor or Associate Professor Rank, dependent on scholarly achievement and accomplishments.
