The Department of Student Life, within the Division of Student and Campus Life, seeks qualified candidates for the position of Assistant Director.
It is the intention of the Department of Student Life to provide and to identify opportunities for students that result in increased learning, greater self-awareness and a clearer sense of purpose. The mission of the Department of Student Life at SUNY Geneseo is to catalogue, promote, assess and strengthen student learning opportunities within Student and Campus Life that contribute to a rich, meaningful, and fulfilling college experience for Geneseo students.
The Department of Student Life includes the MacVittie College Union and its functions, and oversees the Student and Campus Life core co-curriculum, the Student and Campus Life student internship program, and the student employee development series.
Qualified candidates will demonstrate experiences and skills that will foster and augment student development in the context of the department mission. They will have experience in advising student programming boards, reviewing performance contracts, and managing concerts and performing arts. Qualified candidates will demonstrate strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills as well as the ability to work collaboratively with others. They will have an excellent understanding of programming and event management responsibilities and a record of distinguished academic achievement. They must be creative, flexible, enthusiastic, nice, and self-motivated.
As a representative of the department, the Assistant Director will be expected to participate in special college events throughout the academic year. The Assistant Director will be required to work evenings and weekends throughout the academic year. A Master's degree is required. Experience with advising and mentoring student organizations/clubs is required. Experience with planning and implementing campus activities is required.
