Description of Duties:
The Lab Instructor position is a full-time teaching position with 12-month obligation. Teaching load consists of 12 contact hours or equivalent. Job responsibilities include
designing, coordinating and teaching the laboratory sections of the two-semester course sequence, Anatomy and Physiology I and II; overseeing and directing the graduate teaching assistants; working with the course instructors in the design and implementation of the labs; ordering the materials needed for the labs. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to teach both the lecture and laboratory sections of Anatomy and Physiology I and II during the summer; contribute to the instruction of other courses in anatomy and physiology.
The Department of Biology emphasizes cellular and molecular biology as well as biotechnology and medical technology. Its primary goal is to enable students, both majors and non-majors, to become literate about life processes. In addition, the department strives to impart to its students data analysis and contemporary laboratory skills. Departmental faculty are committed to offering high quality instruction to students and maximizing student success through mentoring and by providing opportunities for collaboration on research projects. Faculty believe that one measure of the success of the department is the success of the students.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum requirement of an M.S. in Biology or related field.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications:
Teaching experience at the college level, especially in anatomy and physiology.
