Job Purpose:
The interpreter/Proctor Coordinator/Captionist Coordinator reports directly to the Director of Student Disability Services and is responsible for coordinating the provision of academic interpreting, coordinating proctoring and captionist services for students, faculty and staff. The coordinator will provide up to 15 hours per week in direct interpreting and/or captionist services in addition to coordinating interpreting and captioning services and overseeing assistive technology services for students with disabilities.

Job Functions:
• Recruit, hire, schedule and supervise interpreters and captionists.
• Maintain data on interpreting and captioning services and produce periodic reports.
• Provide up to 15 hours per week of direct interpreting/and or proctoring services.
• Work with computing staff to maintain computer for captionists and oversee all assistive
technology services at SDS.
• Explore service options with students who are Deaf and hard of hearing and train students to
use services and/or assistive devices effectively.
• Maintain current knowledge of applicable federal and state laws as well as office policies and
procedures, and assist in developing appropriate guidelines for services used.
• Maintain professional certification and skills.
• Serve as resource for campus wide delivery of interpreting and/or captioning services.

Qualifications:
Interpreting and/or captioning services experience required. Bachelor’s degree preferred in addition to experience. For interpreters: certification by RID, (CI, CT, CSC, NIC) or NAD (level 3 or above). For captionists: completion of C-Print captionist training program or other real-time captioning system. Computer skills are necessary to program and maintain captionist laptop computers and other assistive devices.

Salary to be determined based on qualification and experience: Range: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
