Business Development & Marketing Manager
Smith College is accepting applications for a Business Development & Marketing Manager. Reporting to the Executive Director, this position increases the market share for Smith Executive Education’s programs and services by engaging with company decision-makers, individuals, Smith College alumnae and professional associations worldwide through direct relationships, web presence, email marketing, social media, advertising, proposals, presentations, research, and online offerings. Take an active role with the team in program management.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Business Development: Utilize marketing campaign data and metrics to develop and nurture existing and new relationships resulting in full enrollment and new company engagement. Ensure that targeted markets receive timely information about Smith Executive Education program offerings; initiate and maintain strong relationships with all constituents. Develop and deliver marketing presentations to key contacts in targeted industries and companies for the purpose of creating long-term engagement with Smith Executive Education. Monitor and analyze market trends. Support development of new programs through research, focus groups, and test marketing. Manage social media channels to engage alumnae and generate new business. Recruit and organize company visits, focus groups, and presentations for the Executive and Associate Directors. Represent Exec Ed at industry and professional association events; identify trade show opportunities and support logistics.
Marketing Communications: Collaborate to develop strategic marketing plans and budgets, create e-mail and direct mail marketing campaigns including segmentation, messaging, and analysis of campaign results. Oversee graphic design consultants and creation of all materials including web pages, videos, photographs, emails, ads, presentations, marketing campaigns, and brochures. Vet speakers, market, and manage monthly webinar series and other online offerings. Manage SEO, updates, and brand consistency. Collaborate with Executive Director to develop research and establish thought leadership in women’s leadership development. Write/select publicity material and release through various communications media to build brand. Assist Executive Director with letters to the editor, editorials and press releases. Respond to requests for information from the media. Assist with content creation and copy editing.
Program Support: Oversee design and production of program materials. Assist with program administration including logistics, customer service, events management, classroom management.
Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree plus 5-7 years of experience in business development, sales, marketing, and communications, with some knowledge of the academic environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills: Experienced business development professional adept at building long-term relationships. Knowledge of a wide range of marketing concepts and techniques including experience with CRM systems. Outstanding verbal and written communications. Excellent project management and planning skills. Creative and strategic thinker able to assist in driving increased revenue to achieve financial goals. Work well independently and with a team. Able to adapt to ever changing environment. Passionate about advancing women in business.
