Simmons College in Boston seeks an experienced, confident, and proactive professional to lead enrollment growth in undergraduate and graduate programs. With a current enrollment of 4,655 – 1,732 undergraduate women and 2,923 men and women– Simmons is in a position of significant academic, operational, and financial strength due to President Helen Drinan’s leadership over the past five years. Supported by an excellent leadership team, Simmons is poised for growth and is in various stages of planning and executing new innovative programs for on-campus and online learning, while embracing a student-centered culture. THE POSITION: The Vice President for Enrollment Management will report to the President and is a member of the President’s nine person Operating Team. The Vice President for Enrollment Management will oversee undergraduate admissions (traditional, adult, and transfer students), graduate admissions for five graduate schools, and student financial services. She/he will manage a team of 53 committed and seasoned staff members who work closely with faculty, staff, students, and alumnae/i to attract a talented, diverse and engaged student body.
The new Vice President will have primary responsibility for the development and operation of recruitment, pricing, and financial aid strategies, and will provide leadership in achieving annual enrollment and net tuition revenue goals. The Vice President will collaborate regularly with many departments across the campus, including faculty and academic heads, the Provost Office, the Registrar’s Office, Marketing & Communications, Finance & Administration, Athletics, Advancement, and the Career Education Center to grow new student enrollment, strengthen retention, and increase graduation rates.
QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have substantial experience working in higher education enrollment management and a record of success in meeting enrollment goals. He/she should be comfortable with institutional complexity and skilled at introducing sustainable change at multiple levels. Knowledge of national enrollment and market trends, awareness of cutting edge strategies, and mastery of demographic information are a must. The candidate should be familiar with current financial aid modeling, strategies and practices, as well as available federal, state and institutional resources.
Exceptional planning, budgeting, goal setting, and organizational skills are essential for this position, as is the ability to analyze data and review options to determine best strategy. Experience supervising and managing staff, along with an ability to inspire and support professional development is important. The candidate should have excellent communication and presentation skills, possess strong intercultural competence, be able to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse work environment and thrive in a culture of change and growth. Master’s degree or higher degree preferred.

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAM: The undergraduate college offers a private, four-year, non-sectarian education with a comprehensive liberal arts and professional curriculum. Simmons’s undergraduate program is integrated with professional work experience, interdisciplinary study, and a global perspective. GRADUATE PROGRAMS: There are five graduate schools - the Graduate School of Library and Information Science School (GSLIS),the School of Social Work SSW), the School of Nursing and Health Sciences (SNHS), the School of Management (SOM) and the College Arts and Sciences (CAS).
Graduate School of Library and Information Sciences (GSLIS) – Established in 1902, GSLIS is one of the oldest library schools in the country. Accredited by the American Library Association, GSLIS awards master’s and doctoral degrees. Master’s students may elect to concentrate in Preservation, Archives, or School Librarianship. The innovative Management Leadership Ph.D. program has received ongoing support from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Also offered is a Master in Children’s Literature, an M.A. and M.F.A. in Children’s Literature at the Eric Carle Museum of Picturebook Art in Amherst. GSLIS was ranked among the top 10 schools of library and information studies in U.S. News & World Report's 2012 edition of “America's Best Graduate Schools.” GSLIS is the only school in New England to be ranked in this category, and is the only small-to-midsize program to make the top 10 list. GSLIS has recently launched an online M.S. Archives program and two post-M.S. online programs.
School of Nursing and Health Sciences (SNHS) – The three nationally accredited programs in SNHS —Nursing, Nutrition, and Physical Therapy—were among the earliest established at the College. (In 2002, the Nursing program celebrated its 100th anniversary.) SNHS offers both graduate and undergraduate degrees. Students’ high pass rates on national licensure exams in Nursing, Nutrition and Physical Therapy attest to the effectiveness of Simmons’s approach, which combines theory and practice. Among the exceptional degree programs are a Doctorate of Nursing Practice and a joint Doctorate in Health Professions Education. School of Management (SOM) – Founded in 1974, the SOM offered the first MBA program in the country designed specifically for women. In addition to the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accredited MBA program, the SOM also offers coeducational Master’s programs in Communications Management, Health Care and Health Care Administration (accredited by CAHME). In 2011 and 2010, it was chosen as one of the “300 Best Business Schools” by The Princeton Review, which also named the SOM the #1 school in the United States with “the greatest opportunities for women.” Entrepreneur magazine and The Princeton Review have chosen the SOM’s entrepreneurship program as one of the top 25 programs in the nation for four of the last five years. SOM Executive Education offers a flagship Strategic Leadership for Women program and custom programs designed to meet the needs of individual enterprises.
School of Social Work (SSW) – Founded in 1904, the School of Social Work was the first academically affiliated school of social work in the country. Accredited by the Council on Social Work Education, it confers Master’s and Doctoral degrees and has recently instituted a Bachelor’s in Social Work program—all with a renowned focus on clinical practice. SSW faculty include a Fulbright fellow, two Hartford Fellows in Gerontology, three past presidents of the Massachusetts Chapter of National Association of Social Workers, a past president of the National Association of Social Workers, and the current President of the International Federation of Social Workers. SSW faculty also serve on the boards of directors of a number of regional, local, national, and international social service agencies and professional organizations. The Education Department offers accredited on and offsite master's programs in all education categories and certificate programs in General and Special Education. Behavior Analysis offers a Ph.D. and M.S.; the M.S. is one of 19 in the U.S. accredited by the Association for Behavior Analysis International.
College of Arts and Sciences Graduate School (CAS) - CAS offers competitive liberal arts graduate programs in English, History, and Gender/Cultural Studies, as well as a new program in Public Policy. These programs build upon the strengths of the undergraduate college, offering graduate level seminars combined with upper level undergraduate electives. Additionally, the Public Policy program is one of three programs at Simmons that offers a 3+1 track for undergraduates. The programs offer unique opportunities to cross disciplines/schools with a wide variety of dual degree options such as History/Archives, Gender Cultural Studies/Management, and Education/Liberal Arts.
