General Responsibilities: The staff videographer is responsible for creating podcasts and web-ready clips that illustrate the mission of Semester at Sea. Clips are uploaded to the Semester at Sea website, social networking sites, and other channels throughout the voyage. In addition, the videographer selects, supervises, and mentors a small group of students who will create short documentary films during the course of the voyage. The videographer mentors the process of documentary filmmaking: selection of appropriate subject matter, pre-shoot planning, in-country shooting, and technical execution. The videographer provides his/her own camera, camera gear, and image storage. A high-definition video camcorder is required, and a minimum of 2TB storage is recommended. A G5 Mac desktop with Final Cut Pro is provided.
The staff videographer reports directly to the executive dean and communications coordinator but works collaboratively with the ISE director of communications in Charlottesville, Va.
As a staff member, you are responsible for the day to day activities associated with your particular position as outlined in the job description. In addition to regularly assigned duties, you will be expected to be an integral part of the shipboard community which includes attendance in the interdisciplinary Global Studies course and other onboard educational and social activities, as your work schedule permits. Some staff may be asked to serve on a limited number of in-port activities as official representatives of Semester at Sea and as trip leaders on any of the Field Trips.

Requirements for this position include:
The successful candidate must be creative and pragmatic, remaining focused on the development and communication of a coherent vision for marketing SAS/ISE.
Experience with travel documentary, promotional videos, and working with college-age students.
Analytical creative problem solver who can exercise sound judgment and make quick decisions.
Ability to respond quickly and appropriately to media and community requests.
Able to maximize use of limited resources. Ability to meet tight deadlines.
Applicant must be proficient in digital filmmaking, including editing and web-posting; journalism and storytelling capability a plus; demonstrated experience with editing software such as Final Cut Pro; and familiarity with Garage Band recording software.

Bachelor's degree.
Minimum 5 years professional filmmaking experience, and proficiency with MAC operating systems required.
