Nurse/Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant
Voyage: 2015 Summer
General Responsibilities: The Nurse/Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant works closely with the Physician to plan, coordinate, and evaluate total patient care for voyage participants.
Specifically, the position:
-Together with the medical team, provides a daily clinic(s) for participants
-Serves on a rotating on-call for situations that need attention
-Participates as a member of the shipboard emergency response team
-Makes educational presentations to participants regarding in-country health issues
-Works collaboratively with ship medical personnel (physician and two nurses)
-Reports to the Physician and is a member of the Medical Team
-Prior to voyage departure, participates in a training session via conference call
Minimum Qualifications: 5+ years of recent active nursing experience
Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant strongly preferred
Experience in at least one of the following areas: college student health, intensive/acute care, emergency room
Graduate of accredited School of Nursing or Physician Assistant Program and licensed to practice in the U.S. or Canada
ACLS required
Note: Verification of current license and current ACLS certification will be required for appointment
Flexibility and a mindset of getting things done essential
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the capacity to relate effectively with Program constituents
Must be detail-oriented, with the ability to balance multiple priorities in a complex and dynamic environment
Ability to exercise good judgment on a range of issues
Ability to handle emergencies
