Voyage: 2015 Spring

General Responsibilities: The Information Technology Coordinator coordinates the use of information technology resources and provides technical help to students, faculty, and staff.

Specifically, the position:

-Manages the use of the computing lab

-Performs basic troubleshooting and maintenance of PCs

-Manages up to ten student workers

-Maintains all computing equipment and computing resources in departments

-Manages wireless access to the internet

-Manages internet access

-Coordinates the "laptop loaner program"

-Assists users to configure personal laptops to use the shipboard wireless network

-Helps staff perform basic troubleshooting for computers in the media lab and AV booth

-Reports to the Assistant Executive Dean and is a member of the Support Services team

-Prior to voyage departure, participates in a training session via conference call

Minimum Qualifications: 5+ years of experience in an end-user support environment, preferably within an academic environment

Bachelor's Degree required

Strong skills with Microsoft Office, Windows, and wireless connectivity

Familiarity with Gmail

Mac experience highly desirable

Must be detail-oriented, with the ability to balance multiple priorities in a complex and dynamic environment

Flexibility and a mindset of getting things done essential

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the capacity to relate effectively with Program constituents

The ability to create an environment where students feel free to ask questions and obtain assistance

Competence in managing up to ten student workers

Ability to exercise good judgment on a range of issues
