Alumni & Development/Outreach Coordinator
Voyage: 2015 Summer
General Responsibilities: The Alumni & Development/Outreach
Coordinator responsibilities include:
(Alumni/Development)
-educating the shipboard community about the
benefits, opportunities, and responsibilities of
being a SAS alumna/nus for a lifetime
-developing a philanthropic understanding of
ISE/SAS among our newest alumni by
educating current voyagers on the ways and
why's to give back to SAS
-hosting VIP constituents sailing on full and
partial voyages
-hosting the SAS Parent Travel program
participants
(Outreach)
-onboard formation of the Global
Ambassadors Program
-directing domestic and international outreach
and recruiting efforts
-meeting with representatives of select
educational institutions in various ports,
serving as point-person and host for
international guests
-advising SAS financial aid "scholars"
-conducting focus group discussions for
marketing-enrollment purposes
-serving as host to Interport Students and
study abroad "site visit" guests, assisting with
their onboard logistics and aiding in their
acclimation
-reporting to the Assistant Executive Dean and
serving as a member of the Support Services team
-prior to departure, participating in regularly
scheduled conference calls
Minimum Qualifications: 3+ years of experience in
higher educational or non-profit
fundraising, student affairs,
admissions, study abroad, or alumni
relations with project management,
event planning experience, and/
or outreach experience strongly
preferred
Bachelor's degree in appropriate
discipline; Master's degree
preferred
Special consideration will be given
to alumni of the Semester at Sea
program
International travel experience
preferred
Experience in managing and
motivating student volunteers
The ability to create an environment
where students feel free to ask
questions and obtain assistance
Flexibility and a mindset of getting
things done essential
Excellent interpersonal and
communication skills, and the
capacity to relate effectively with
Program constituents
Must be detail-oriented, with
the ability to balance multiple
priorities in a complex and dynamic
environment
Ability to exercise good judgment
on a range of issues
Demonstrated ability to
communicate and interact with
students regardless of race, sex,
disability, sexual orientation, and
other personal characteristics
Experience in managing and
motivating student volunteers.
