Savannah State University seeks qualified applicants for a full time 12 month position of Assistant Pitching Coach, Women's Softball. Responsibilities include creating a team that competes successfully at the NCAA Division I level. Assists with overall supervision, organization, development and implementation of a competitive women's intercollegiate softball program; assists the Head coach in all aspects of managing a successful collegiate softball program. Develops a pitching program; including, but not limited to recruiting, team preparation, coaching, scouting opponents, budgetary management, home event management, coordinating team travel, compliance with NCAA, University rules, and a commitment to academic development of student-athletes; performs other related duties as assigned. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience; competitive benefits program.
Bachelor's degree required; prior coaching and playing experience preferred. All applicants must have the ability to handle multiple tasks and have excellent written and verbal skills; excellent organization and time management skills are necessary. Desired candidates will have played or coached softball on the college level with a demonstrated understanding and commitment to athletic programs at the NCAA Division I Level and a commitment to the academic mission of the University. Ability to serve as a positive role model for student athletes on and off the softball field is essential. Candidates must have an understanding of cultural diversity.
