Assistant Professor, English (African American Literature)
Provides instruction and related activities in qualified area(s) of English, including African American Literature and composition; may also teach in Humanities or related qualified areas as needed. Teaches four (4) classes per semester during the regular academic year; provides departmental, college and university service through committee appointments and other tasks as assigned. Participates in ongoing professional development through research productivity in the field; maintains at least 10 office hours per week. Assists in academic advising, engages in student mentorship and retention efforts. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience; competitive benefits.
Ph.D. in English or related field with emphasis in African American literature required; ABD's will be considered with stipulation for degree completion by August 2013. Previous instructional experience at the college level preferred. Background and/or credit check may be required.
