|Duties & Responsibilities||
The position reports directly to the VP of Student Services and will provide services necessary to operate and organize a complete financial aid program to San Juan College students. Responsibilities will include providing leadership and management of professional, support staff, and department operations; develop and implement best practices that support the goal of enrollment growth, quality of service, community outreach, and student profiles; design a successful approach for encouraging prospective students to seek a college education; and collect and present financial aid data to influence college and student service decision-making. Other duties will include updating and managing existing policies and practices of processing financial aid; oversee implementation of new regulations and operational management systems; financial literacy and default management programs; accreditation requirements; special circumstance appeals; maintain compliance with all federal and state regulatory and reporting requirements; managing a cohesive application review and award process; and managing the receipt of student scholarships, grants, and third party payments. Special projects for VP of Student Services may be assigned.
A Masters Degree in Educational Administration or a related field with a minimum of five years of working in a post-secondary institution with administrative responsibility for financial aid services is required. Experience at a community college highly desirable. Work experience should include the supervision of staff, computerized student enrollment record software (experience with Ellucian Colleague system is preferred), and successful resolution of financial aid issues. The successful candidate must demonstrate strong customer service skills that focus on student centered service, be able to work effectively with business office functions, and communicate effectively with prospective students, public school employees, community groups, and various campus departments. Individual will have a strong commitment to the community college philosophy, will value diversity, and have a multi-cultural perspective with adult and minority students. Physical Requirements: Varied Sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting up to 25 lbs as related to office supplies and equipment.
