Position Summary Information

Job Description Summary

The individual will serve as full-time faculty in the online and on-campus accredited Physical Therapist Programs with each class enrollment of 15-20 students/year.

Duties & Responsibilities Responsibilities include teaching course work in the online and on-campus programs. Responsibilities will also include advising students; assessing student learning; curriculum development and enhancement; setting up and teaching laboratory exercises for the online and on-campus programs; working with various college committees as assigned; and assisting with the PTA club and reaccreditation process. The PTA Instructor is responsible for teaching a variety of courses in the online and on-campus PTA curriculum and to aid the PTA Director and Associate Director in the establishment and maintenance of contracts with new and developed clinical sites. Duties may include traveling to local and/or statewide clinical facilities as needed when the ACCE is unable to conduct clinical site visits. Maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with clinical partners and College colleagues is important to this position. The PTA Instructor is responsible for coordinating and supervising assigned instructional programs, answers directly to the PTA Program Director, and carries out all duties in consort with the mission of the college and in cooperation with the other program directors and college departments. Will assist the Program Director in related duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant or Physical Therapy program is required; a Bachelor’s Degree is preferred or applicant must be willing to pursue this degree and complete it in 3-5 years. PTA board licensed in the state of New Mexico and keeping license current on an annual basis by attending seminars, continuing education, book review, etc… also required. Teaching experience is a plus. Candidates should have experience in a clinical practice for a minimum of two years and some expertise with computers and WORD preferred. The successful candidate will value diversity and have a multicultural perspective with adult/minority students; and, have a high energy level along with a strong commitment to the community college philosophy and to the Physical Therapist Assistant Program. Physical requirements: Extended sitting and keyboarding, varied standing, walking, bending, crouching and carrying. Must be able to lift 50lb as related to office equipment and mock student transfer. All candidates are subject to a Criminal Background Investigation prior to any offer of employment.
