Job Description Summary

Two Positions available:
The Instructor of English will report directly to the Dean of the School of Humanities and will provide 15 credit hours of instruction per semester with a primary teaching load in writing courses.

Duties & Responsibilities Course load will potentially include courses in college composition, developmental writing and technical writing in face-to-face, learning community, and online environments. Teaching load may include an occasional course in literature or creative writing. Responsibilities include assessment, service on various college and department committees, maintenance of office hours, and other duties as assigned by the Dean. Instruction times will include day and evening courses. May instruct at the main campus, east campus (Aztec) or the west campus (Kirtland).
Qualifications

A Master’s Degree or higher in English, composition and rhetoric, or related field plus two years of related instructional experience is required. Teaching experience at a community college, with demonstrated interest in creating student-centered, interactive courses, both in face-to-face and online environments, is preferred. The successful candidate will be a dynamic teacher with a strong commitment to the community college experience and learning college philosophy. The candidate should value diversity and have experience teaching in multicultural and adult student environments. Physical Requirements: Varied sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, lifting office supplies and equipment periodically up to 25lbs. All candidates subject to Criminal Background Investigation prior to any offer of employment.
