Educational Experience Requirement: Master's degree in English, Education, Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL), Linguistics, or related field. Two years experience as an English as a Second Language (ESL) instructor or related experience. Experience working with international students would be helpful. A combination of education, experience, and training that would produce the required knowledge and abilities could be considered.
Nature and Purpose of Position: Teaches English Language Institute (ELI) students and advises for academic development.
Primary Responsibilities: Coordinates curricular initiatives, teaches the curriculum, prepares classes and advises English Language Institute (ELI) students for academic development. Prepares lesson plans, grades course materials and substitutes in other classes when needed. Participates in professional development programs and committee work. Plans, directs, supervises, and participates in special projects. Assists in development and activities. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Specifications: Must have strong organizational skills and a respect for different cultures. Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral form. Knowledge of, or ability to learn, University policies and procedures. Work schedule may vary from normal working hours as needed.
