Job Summary The Employment Case Manager will assist ex-offenders in establishing an employment plan by: conducting an orientation session to inform the clients of available classes and workshop offered by DHCR; conducting an intake and assessment to determine the client's employment needs and immediate survival needs (housing, food, ID's, etc.); assign the client to Personal and Career Development classes; and/or refer client to community based agencies to address the client needs. The Employment Case Manager will assist the client in developing a resume. The Employment Case Manager will develop and maintain databases of potential employers for job opportunities, job networking and community resources. The Employment Cases Manager will as parole liaison, establish and maintain relationship between the department and Illinois Dept. of Corrections (Parole Office); as public relations specialist, promote the program and establish connections with community-based organizations.
This is a temporary position.
Minimum Qualifications BA in related field, Master preferred with hours in guidance and counseling. Adult teaching and counseling experience in a men's adult correctional center preferred.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel, and computer aided-instruction. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proven record of teaching, curriculum development skills and report writing.
